Mayner & Cochran have now acquired Appliance Parts & Service, another well known and respected Whitegood Repairer and Parts supplier in the ACT. This acquisition will allow us to better service your needs with more Technicians, more administration staff and a larger range of Spare Parts kept in stock.

About Us

Mayner & Cochran was founded in 1967 by William Rothwell (Bill) Cochran and Alois (Al) Maenner. Both men worked at JB Young in the electrical department as service technicians until JB Young decided to cease doing electrical servicing and the department was closed. Maenner & Cochran was then formed to take on the Hoover Service Agency.

At this stage Maenner and Cochran was operating financially as two independent businesses, Bill was doing the floor care and small appliances, and Al was doing the white goods. They were operating from the shed behind Bill and Anne's house in Goodwin St Lyneham and from Al's garage at his home in Nardoo Crescent O'Connor.

In 1968 Al decided to leave the business and Alexander (Sandy) Cruden (Who also worked in the JB Young's Electrical Department) and his wife Edna purchased Al's shares. The name was changed and Mayner & Cochran Pty Ltd was born. A new Mini Minor Panel Van was purchased and sign written and Sandy became Mayner & Cochran's first in house service technician. The business was moved to a small rented premises in Pirie St Fyshwick. Soon after Mayner & Cochran relocated to Isa St Fyshwick where we were right up until 1999.

Mayner & Cochran continued in this form until 1986 when sadly Bill passed away. Bill & Anne's shares were purchased by Sandy & Edna. The business continued to grow and in 1997 Sandy & Edna decided to retire. Mayner & Cochran at this stage was being managed by Wayne Cochrane and David Sharpe. Wayne & David purchased 50% each and the next chapter of Mayner & Cochran began.

In 1999 we out grew our Isa St building and moved to our current address at 1/86 Townsville St Fyshwick.

The business continued to grow and prosper and in 2007 David decided after 21 years at Mayner & Cochran it was time to sell up and move on. His shares were purchased by Wayne Cochrane and his family.

In July 2008 Mayner & Cochran purchased Appliance Parts & Service Co off Keith Rudd. The two businesses were combined to form what Mayner & Cochran is today. As well as continuing with our in home and workshop service we now also distribute spare parts to most of southern NSW and in 2010 our online spare parts shop will be opened so we can offer the rest of Australia the service that Canberra has come to know over the last 40 years.
